Teaching, Training & Workshops
Workshops in design leadership, service design, and facilitation. For teams, organisations, and events.
I am Co-Lead of the MA Service Design programme at the Hochschule Luzern and have been teaching design at universities, organisations, and events for over twenty-five years. I also run masterclasses for the SDN Academy, Hatch Leadership Ateliers, and the iF Design Academy, and offer bespoke workshops for in-house teams.
Workshops run face-to-face or remote, from a half-day to three days. Remote sessions are structured as shorter sessions of two to three hours each. These can be spread over several days.
Self-directed online courses are available at courses.polaine.com.
Design & Creative Leadership
For design managers, heads of design, and senior ICs navigating the move into leadership — how to lead without doing all the design yourself, how to work through the politics and difficult conversations, and how to figure out what kind of leader you want to be. I run a version of this at the Hatch Leadership Ateliers.
Service Design
Fundamentals sessions for teams new to service design through to advanced methods for practitioners: the service ecosystem mindset, research, journey mapping, blueprinting, designing and prototyping for complex systems. You’ll find the online service design course here.
Storytelling, Pitching and Presenting
I also teach pitching, storytelling, and presenting. This is one of my favourite workshops to teach and a version of it is part of the SDN Academy Masterclasses Series and Voltage Control’s Facilitation Lab.
Workshop Planning & Facilitation
For people who run workshops and want to run them better, whether face-to-face, remote, or hybrid. Planning, facilitation, managing group dynamics, and making the output usable afterwards. Try the online course or get in touch for a bespoke one for your organisation.
Drop me a note to discuss a programme, team training, or conference session.
